Last friday I was going on my training and I saw a floor being full of Lasius Niger queens and males. Look for them middle to late afternoon (I saw the queens at 19)

mine has not ended in idaho it's still going,so when looking go out to a nest that you know is lasius niger and look for the alates and dont catch them they have not mated yet so later that day and when looking for a queen just go out in the midday to afternoon to a place that has green grass on both sides of some concrete that is in the light they aren't out when its dark they get to cold. And if you have seen a Camponotus pennsylvanicus ant worker she is a little smaller then them and 4x larger then a Lasius Niger worker. hope this helps :D
