Hi everyone,
I live in Washington state, USA and I really want to keep the genus camponotus. Has anyone seen them flying yet? Also, what are the ideal conditions and places to look for newly mated queens?

You and me both! SC here but haven't been lucky enough to find any.
According to a past video from Mikey, they seem to like flying just after a rainstorm around this time of year. I went out on a short hike Friday after a mild rainstorm, but no luck.
Hopeful to catch some soon!

Im also looking to keep this species I live in Ontario Canada and I haven't seen any queens of any sp yet. Its been the warmest its been yet 15 degC but very windy and rain everyday so its quite wet. Let us know if you see them down in Washington. I'm sure they will fly here the same time or shortly after.!

They're flying right this minute! Typing from mobile, saw one fly into the bushes just as my bus arrived for me to go to work, so sadly I couldn't catch her.
But they're out there! Pretty sizeable species, almost looked to be an inch long from my bench-seated perspective!
