My daughter found a solenopsis queen in the front yard . We went to dinner came back I was out in the back yard and a mating pair of Dorymyrmex bureni landed on me and it was on .. I have 18 different colonies most with workers already from that one flight. it was a crazy night.

Where is this happening? That first one looks like S.xyloni.

Columbia south Carolina

I was at a gestation pumping gas in St Mathwes SC today and a Solenopsis nuptial flight was going on at the pump had to be close to 10,000 ants all over the pump and the ground surrounding it I snapped some cellphone pics but do not have them ready to post.
This could well be s.xyloni I am pretty new to this and to me not in the light of sun as this pic was taken they appeared to be closest to invicta. To be honest I would prefer xyloni as it is native to here in South Carolina . Thanks for the input..

That is why I posted it for you to see the sun was shining through the thorax giving a false amber hue to it. Thanks for the reply.
