Rain and nuptial flights
hi, yesterday there was rain where I live (southeast Louisiana) and after 2 weeks of searching, I finally found a cluster of queens around a nest preparing for the nuptial flight. This was at around 9:30 am. I know they are not fertilized, so I decided to check back up later. At around 11, I saw they were still there, but then it started raining and I saw some go back in the nest. Will the nuptial flights still happen today (it stopped raining) or should I just check back tomorrow? The alates were almost the size of the worker carpenter ants I see all the time if size matters in any way.

Re: Rain and nuptial flights
Maybe, maybe not. Ants can be unpredictable. Rains don't necessarily predict flights.
Proverbs 6:6-8
Go to the ant, you sluggard;
consider its ways and be wise!
It has no commander,
no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer
and gathers its food at harvest.
