Question about flying queens

Hi,

Just starting off on my ant keeping adventure. (Very excited)
Recently rescued a queen from my pool. She still has her wings but I know that doesn't always mean they haven't mated. My question is, if a queen is fertilized. Will she still fly?
After rescuing her, she started drying off her wings, and even tried to fly away as I was putting her in. The test tube.

Thanks for the help.

Hey,

Queens normally don't fly after they have mated and started their colony. The wings will fall off at some point and it's usually just a question of time. It could be that she was still trying to participate in the nuptial flight that was going on, if that was the case at that time.
Doing some proper research is the best way to start an antcolony.
