Man, I don't know what I was thinking! I did know that, but apparently like forgot it while I was writing that? I don't know. But anyway sorry.SYUTEO wrote: ↑Thu Mar 30, 2023 8:55 pmBut Camponotus and Crematogaster are in different subfamilies, Camponotus in Formicinae, Crematogaster in Myrmicinae, you can easily tell apart Formicine and Myrmicine ants by their petiole, Myrmicines have a post-petiole which is like a second segment of the petiole, all other subfamilies don't have this.antperson24 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 30, 2023 12:47 pmNo, all of the genera in the subfamily are not alike, take Camponotus and Crematogaster for example, they are both in the subfamily Formicinae, but are very much different. The subfamily of you ant is in is Formicinae, but that's not enough, you need to know the genus which is Catagalyphis, and that should be enough, it's just nice to know the species.

Why keep ants that aren't found in your yard?
There are so many fascinating ants right where you live!
I disagree with the keeping/buying of ants that aren't in your area.

I don't think it will be too difficult, even without a care guide.

Just be outside as much as possible, I'm sure there are some other species around too.

Your right, they're not queens. But I do know that the species is Polyrhachis lacteipennis. Just a fun fact: Polyrachis means many spines, giving them their common name, Spiny ant.
