So, last year I discovered AntsCanada and now it is time to go catch myself a queen! I will post updates to this journal as this all develops. In the meantime I have been watching this colony in my backyard wake up since the snow got off the ground and every now and again i'll set some fruit by the entrance for them. I am so excited to catch my queen this year! Would someone help me identify these ants? If I was to take a guess I would say they are tetramorium but I don't know.

Queen Pharrah with her first eggs.
Hurray! I'm super excited for this opportunity! Kinda nervous about the fast approaching winter, I have no idea how to hibernate.

Proverbs 6:6-8
Go to the ant, you sluggard;
consider its ways and be wise!
It has no commander,
no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer
and gathers its food at harvest.

The first ants look like Formica neorufibarbis.
