Caught my first C. Pennsylvanicus queen.

3:10pm EDT
mid 70's
bright, sunny, dry.

She was walking up a wall at school. I pulled out my super tube and snagged her.

Got her home, transferred her to a test tube set up and added her to my ant box.

Checked on her every few days.

Caught my second C. Pennsylvanicus Queen

3:10pm EDT
81
Bright, sunny, humid

There was apparently a nearby, but unseen flight.
I spotted a queen, but before I could get to it a little kid squashed it. Later found and captured a second winged queen. Still concerned she may not be fertile.

Male alates/ dealates were every where. I caught 1 winged male for study. It died before I got it home.

Got the second queen home and transferred her to a test tube set up and added her to my ant box.

My first C. Pennsylvanicus queen (CP1) has eggs! 8 lovely little grains of brown rice.

Currently my ant box has been in my media cabinet. With the odd weather we've been having and my inability to easily locate a reptile heating cable regulating heat has been a concern. I know that my tech keeps the media cabinet on the warm side of toasty. The thermometer has topped 85 in more than a month. My only concern is noise and vibration but the baffling and vibe mat seem to be working well.
