(Phoenix) Ant Journal

Post: # 17947Post Phoenix

Will be updating this on a weekly basis.

Number of Queens in Captivity: 5
Species: Solepnosis, Pheidole, Camponotus x3

Solepnosis (Geminata) - Caught On: Feb 23, 2017
Progress: Great, she's currently doing fine in her setup; though there's some outside yellowish mold forming right at the end of the dry cotton. So far, she has laid about thirty or more so eggs; though I haven't spotted any larvae yet. Hopefully I'll see some more progression later on with this queen.

Pheidole - Caught On: Feb 27, 2017
Progress: No clue, last I ever saw her; she had like five to six eggs with her, and why did I said that? Well, can you guess where she is right now? Chances are, you can't because she has completely concealed herself within the wet cotton. That little brownish bump, yeah that's her. I don't know if she laid anymore eggs or not, but I'm just gonna let her be if she prefers to be in there.

Camponotus - Caught On: Feb 27, 2017, March 4th, 2017
Progress: Not much, one just sits there being lazy; possibly waiting for better conditions. Another is exhibiting the same behavior like my Solepnosis queen did. Finally my fattest Camponotus queen, arguably the most sensitive one is always on the edge, even the slightest sensitivity can scare her. Still no eggs from either of them, as of now.

Queens In Captivity: [5]
Species: [Solenopsis], [Camponotus]x3, [Pheidole], [Monomorium]x3

[Camponotus] Sp. Unknown -|Caught On|- 27th February, 2017
Left them all in the dark for indefinite amount of time, I've seen and checked; no eggs of sorts yet, beginning to wonder if they're fertilized or not. If they unfortunately passed onto the afterlife, I'll just feed their freshly-made corpses to my future ant colonies.

[Pheidole] Sp. Unknown -|Caught On|- 27th February, 2017 ---[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBBk_g5jx_o]
Haven't spotted her along with her eggs, but she's moving quite a lot recently; guess that's a plus for the time being. But I have spotted mold growing on the wet cotton, I'll be transferring her to another setup in the next few days.

[Solenopsis] Geminata -|Caught On|- Feb 23, 2017 ---[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDzb0ShDivo]
Well, more eggs have been laid by her; otherwise, not much progress.

[Monomorium] Pharaonis -|Caught On|- 14th/15th March, 2017 ---[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uio3zOt-zek]
~~~Too Lazy To Write Stuff About Them~~~ Uniqueness: 3 Queen Colony
I don't see the Pheidole queen, but I'm not used to looking at queens yet so it could be right there and I wouldn't know it. It's amazing that something as small as that Solenopsis queen could produce something like the Fire Nation... I don't know enough about Monomorium ants, but three queens together sounds great. Do you know if they can produce more queens for themselves if they want to?
All I do know is that mating usually occurs inside the nest, and as such it's probably possible for them to produce queens theoretically speaking.
