Re: Another! My queen ant journal
She could be Pheidole nodus, Tetramorium of the tropics are semi-claustral and are often quite small. Here's some pictures of my late Tetramorium colony and a T. bicarinatum queen for comparison. The test tubes are 1.5 cm wide.

Why keep ants that aren't found in your yard?
There are so many fascinating ants right where you live!
I disagree with the keeping/buying of ants that aren't in your area.

Your long awaited photos. I fed them honey and fruit jam mixed together. Only one worker can to eat and feed the rest but after sometime the queen herself came to eat. I didn't let her eat too much because last time when i fed the p. parva a termite alate, they just wouldn't eat anything else for weeks cuz they were full. I don't want this to happen with them
Also workers are like 2mm small, similar red colour on the head and thorax but black gaster (just like the queen. I felt like mentioning this because ij previous photos the queen looks entirely black when she isn't)

Re: Another! My queen ant journal
Well pheidoli nodus does look pretty similar so imma go with that.
Now its gonna be difficult as i cant put them in cement nest. I think ill do plaster nest as it'll also be easier to see them on the white bg
also school started so im busy now

Re: Another! My queen ant journal
I use plaster all the time, as long as you use the right mixture (1 part water to 2 parts plaster) the only thing I would worry about escaping is Camponotus or those large tropical species that I don't remember names of.SYUTEO wrote: ↑Wed Jul 05, 2023 10:35 amBe careful that they don't chew their way out.Antloverhuman wrote: ↑Tue Jul 04, 2023 4:29 amWell pheidoli nodus does look pretty similar so imma go with that.

Re: Another! My queen ant journal
I think i will make something similar to what D colony made in the clear plastic cups. If i get a clear plastic bottle, i can cut some of it and fill it with plaster and make a nest out of itSYUTEO wrote: ↑Wed Jul 05, 2023 10:35 amBe careful that they don't chew their way out.Antloverhuman wrote: ↑Tue Jul 04, 2023 4:29 amWell pheidoli nodus does look pretty similar so imma go with that.

Fed them a part of termite alate which they ate nicely. Their water cotton is getting moldy and water is running low so i will have to change their test tube soon. Also any idea on what barrier i should use and how fast do they grow?

At least for the species in north America it takes about 3-4 weeks egg to worker, and baby powder works fine.Antloverhuman wrote: ↑Mon Jul 10, 2023 3:25 am10 July 2023
