Checked on her a little and she has eggs! Gave her a slapped mosquito and will give her a wet cotton day after tomorrow

Here are some crappy photos. From estimate she's around 6-7 mm long (don't even have a scale here bruh)

I saw some cremato workers and they could be the same species as the queen i caught. They were nesting in the hollow stem of a plant. They were really beautiful and cool to see and i hope the queen gets those workers. (But now i gotta design some acrylic nests as there's no way imma put up a vertical cement nest

Gave her another wet cotton. Eggs are doing great and she's alive.
I noticed a pattern with their nests that the will always live in a hollow thing sticking up in the soil so for their nest i will have to mount it on a stick in their outworld. (I could make a terrarium sort of thing but we'll see)

I like the terrarium idea; that would be cool.Antloverhuman wrote: ↑Tue Jun 06, 2023 2:44 am5 june 2023

Why keep ants that aren't found in your yard?
There are so many fascinating ants right where you live!
I disagree with the keeping/buying of ants that aren't in your area.

I don't want a terrarium setup just yet. I would like to see some nest activities for a few years. Maybe after that i can give them a terrarium.antperson24 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 06, 2023 10:52 amI like the terrarium idea; that would be cool.Antloverhuman wrote: ↑Tue Jun 06, 2023 2:44 am5 june 2023

I also thought of an idea. I could use those transparent plastic straws (maybe red coloured to not disturb them with light) and stick em up in a small Tupperware filled with plaster floor. That way i could water the plaster and don't worry about hydration (i have observed they live in dry nests so it can work) and i can use cement instead of plaster as I've heard people got their colonies killed cuz of some bad plaster. (absolutely destroying the planet with plastic straws

Oh, that sounds good too. Here is the plaster I use: https://www.amazon.com/Dap-Plaster-Paris-20-Min/dp/B008SR3W1G/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=plaster+of+paris&qid=1686148211&sr=8-4Antloverhuman wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2023 3:40 amI don't want a terrarium setup just yet. Re: Another! My queen ant journal
8 June 2023
Arrived home after a terrible train ride which was 3½ hours late and with so many jerks. If my queen could speak, other passengers wouldn't have been able to sleep with the constant screaming of fear she probably would have experienced
Onto the more important part. She is still alive and seems to be fine. I tried to just simply hold her vial to a test tube setup and it almost worked. She picked up her batch of brood and carried it to the tt. I thought she would place it there so i didnt do anything but she ran back to the vial. I will try again tomorrow with a more proper setup and let her rest for today. her water cotton is completely dry so it shouldn't take long. I could raise her in the vial by watering the cotton with syringe but thats a dumb idea so no.
