Maybe attach tube to outworld?? And then heat both?Antloverhuman wrote: ↑Tue May 24, 2022 2:29 amI believe you dont need to put them in the out world yet, you can continue feeding them in the test tube. Also does the test tube not fit in the outworld diagonally?

No. Only heat half of tube, I once heated the outworld and the ants moved all the brood out. It took them 3 days to move back… (Camponotus floridanus)BillPisechko wrote: ↑Tue May 24, 2022 6:43 amMaybe attach tube to outworld?? Also, that way if heat is too high, they have somewhere to retreat to.

We know the s1 outworlds are 80x100(base)
And with a simple formula-
A^2+B^2=C^2
Then 80^2+100^2=How long the tube must be to perfectly fit.
So 6400+10000=16400
So, square root 16400, you get 128.06mm,
Therefore, if
Tube>128
The tube will not fit.
(The one time I actually care about the Pythagorean theorem, just because I am insanely bored right now)
(Sorry )
Ants I have-
camponotus compressus colony- the shadow warriors.
Pls just let me have a tetramorium colony

Edit: Also, we could assume since he bought ants from buckeye myrmecology, his tubes are 16-150mm, like the ones they sell, therefore, the tube won’t fit flat on the bottom.

Update - 5/28 - Interim Home, Thoughts?
Okay so I've been alternating every 2 or 3 days, a little tiny piece of superworm and then a dab of Agave Nectar.
Nobody has died lately!! Good thing.
Here is setup I just rigged. Queen and workers are all huddled up after the "disturbances".
Tube diameter matches the outworld opening diameter. A bit of electrical tape and voila!!
I have a little protein in one bowl, some nectar in another and water in the globe. See pics in link:

Gimme your thoughts, comments, criticism whatever. I take it all as help!!
Peace & Happy Anting...Bill P.

Try to put something in the liquid so they don’t drown. My ants try to drown themselves in liquid, and this would be bad for a small colony. A little pebble would do, or put a piece of CottenBillPisechko wrote: ↑Sat May 28, 2022 7:23 pmUpdate - 5/28 - Interim Home, Thoughts?

Brilliant advice on the liquid in the bowl. I keep forgetting that ants lick rather than drink. Thanks a ton.SolenopsisKeeper wrote: ↑Sun May 29, 2022 11:41 amTry to put something in the liquid so they don’t drown.
