Colobopsis Journal
I caught my queen ant in April 30, 2022. I found her resting in my marigold plant. After I caught her, I look at her head, it was very different from Camponotus species so i did a quick research. It is said, it's a Colobopsis but I think it's a Camponotus so I posted a post in the forum so that someone who can ID this species and the answer is..it is a Colobopsis Leonardi and someone said, it is difficult to take care of this species. I tried to feed her honey flavoured syrup but she ignores it.

After 1 day, she sheds her wings. I tried to feed her sugar water but she still ignores it.

Re: Colobopsis Journal
They have a tendency to eat her eggs so it's also best to not stress her too much. Don't force her to eat and only feed her once a week, it's not a very big deal when she doesn't want to eat, it may be because she isn't hungry yet. You need to be patient as egg to worker takes two months and when workers arrive it's not a very smart idea to feed them moving or live prey when the colony is young because the minor workers are known to burst out their toxic yellow insides to kill enemies.

How do you know if there are the right number of workers so I can feed them insects that are living and moving?SYUTEO wrote: ↑Thu May 05, 2022 10:38 pmThey tend to eat her eggs so it's also best to not stress her too much. I would say at least when the colony can replace all dead workers, maybe at least 100 workers. Do know that when workers explode the yellow goo they release is toxic and it also has a strong smell.Joshua09 wrote: ↑Mon May 09, 2022 5:51 amEdited: How many workers are ready to feed them live and movingJoshua09 wrote: ↑Mon May 09, 2022 3:05 amHow do you know if there are the right number of workers so I can feed them insects that are living and moving?SYUTEO wrote: ↑Thu May 05, 2022 10:38 pmThey tend to eat her eggs so it's also best to not stress her too much. After 1 week, she finally accepted the sugar water, but something happened. She only has 4 eggs. 1 week ago, she had six eggs but now, she only has 4 eggs. I did leave her alone for a very long time maybe she lost 2 of them.
