Yooooo im back and i didn't see any dead ants. They didn't eat too much but the weirdest thing was that they have some brood and alot of workers on one corner of the outworld. I thought that there might be alot of new ants and lots of brood but when i looked inside there was alot of space in the test tube. The queen is nice and fat and no new eggs. The caterpillar lookes like its about to become cocoon because he dug some where underground and when i found it it was not moved. Not like the dead way tho because there was still some green cabbage it could have ate for hydration

Remember that caterpillar?? Well it turned into a cocoon. I think it will become a moth. Well till now only three ants have died. Also none of them are foraging. There are huddling in a group. They dont have any of those super repletes right now. Are they hibernating?? The lowest temperature gets around average 7 degree Celsius. Is this enough for them to hibernate??

I do believe this is enough for them to hibernate. Also, if they are Camponotus, they are nocturnal and are rarely seen foraging during day(especially when the colony is small).

Fascinating, as I had to set up a camera to even see if my Camponotus colony was foraging.

My guess is hibernation or diapause but I am not 100% positive.

Ok so i had an idea. I basically put a stone on stove( low flame) for like 10 seconds and then it became slightly hot( not very hot, i held it and it didn't feel hot so i imagine it around body temperature) and keep it near the entrance of the test tube. So that if are feeling very cold they can rest near the rock. Some will say that its a dumb idea because that would be breaking their hibernation but i still dont think that they are hibernating. I went on the roof today and saw alot of ants running around.
