I am going to start posting updates on my camponotus queen ant
21 may, 2021
I caught my first ever queen ant. She had her nuptial flight in my bathroom. I managed to keep her in a container setup because she was too big for the test tube. After a while i checked on her, she had broken her wings off yay:D I gave her a small drop of honey but she didn't eat it

Spent an hour trying to figure out what species she is. It might be c. compressus, c. Dolendus or c. Socrates. But I can't make any further assumption as I have not seen her workers

Found a same looking ant queen maybe the same species. Well...she was a dead one. My guess is that one died cause of other ants or dehydration

I had kept her sheded wings in a matchbox just for memory in case if she dies I will have a memory of her. The matchbox broke and the wings ' flew away ' :( luckily the matchbox was in another box and I was able to collect almost all the wings but for one (-_-) she had 4 wings. Two small and two big. I couldn't find the big one. Now I only have three wings that I have kept in a test tube for now.

I checked on her and she is alive yay and she also have what seems to be larvae :D she seems fine but I feel like she isn't actually camponotus cause the larvae are so small and also I read that most carpenter ants take around two months to go from egg to adult but the larvae came in the next week of laying eggs. It's not that I don't want any other ants species but if they are small and fast growing it may become a problem.

I decided to name my colony " the shadow warriors" and even made a little flag that I will put in their outworld!
