Yay the ants moved! They are all in their outworld test tube which is more clear. I saw some ants living in the new test tube earlier and i thought they liked it and they moved today. Well three rebellious ants have held jeff hostage in the old test tube :( hopefully they also move so i can remove the old test tube

Update- i destroyed the ants plan to hold jeff hostage. I just dumped the ants into the outworld. Jeff was safely dropped into the outworld using a tweezer. I actually saw Jeff's eyes! They were big and his head was alot bigger that the workers. Im just wowed by how small their setup is now. But only problem is that i have to remove the foil to see my ants but the ants climb the top of the test tube and i cant put the foil back which causes more ants to climb  i dont know if the ants are going to hibernate.

See for any signs of brood growth and their activity.

They seem very active inside the nest and it seems that the queen laid new batch of eggs. Larvae are also growing big

Oh k. But there is a pheidoli parva colony which has been around for three years or so and I never see them in winters. I don't even see black crazy ants in the winter. Why would those ants hibernate?

Maybe they are actually not native and they hibernate even if they don't need to. Or they just take a break and have enough food stored.
Doing some proper research is the best way to start an antcolony.

Currently not keeping any ants anymore.

Bruh who knew they liked ice cream! I gave them some vanilla flavoured ice cream and it was cold so they didn't eat it. After a while I came back and saw like 5 ants eating it

Maybe they're just hiding in a warm place.
