Caught another Winter ant yesterday. Ive decided to name the colony the “sugar barons.” Still haven’t found any queen pavement ants yet :(
Winter ant queen still only 1-2 eggs. I read about how they take longer than others ant species for the first workers to come in. Focus now mostly on catching a pavement ant queen/queens
Ill check in later.

Nuuuuuu! My winter ants had to be released when i noticed a blood-sucking mite on the queen. I had to release them or else they might die due to the fact that in my condition, it do seem it might be a serious problem.
I’m sad now ;-;

Lasius doing well. Haven’t checked and will not check the colony until next Monday. I think they are at least mildly comfortable. Rained today in my area. Ill check to see if any queens decided to nuptial flight after the rain when it is most moist and warm.

Moved my queen to the my back shed. I had to check every once every 5 minutes to make sure she had adapted to her hotter and at times (namely rainy days and winter) colder climate. Hope she does well.

Queen looks fat and healthy. Trying to make sure the temperature is ideal for her. Kinda hard cause the shed is kind of open-air.
