10 minutes ago I found a fire ant queen. She was humongous and we had to keep her. Anyway as i'm typing this we made a setup and taped onto the test tube we captured her and and hoping she moves. No eggs yet but she was cleaning her gaster so good sign! I'm going to check on her weekly so I'll make updates weekly unless you have questions. I'm taking another shot at writing a journal and who's better to write about that my new queen? Anyway Antmanboy out and good luck in ant keeping!

1 week update: No eggs yet and she still has her wings. A little disappointed but haven't given up hope. There is still a chance she has mated. Anyway sorry for some bad news but I'll update in a few days. Good luck with ant keeping!

I'm not gonna check until Monday. Just for her to have more time to lay eggs. But her water is good last time I checked and she Still had her wings so not much of a change. If she has a colony I'll probably buy a hybrid nest mini or hybrid nest solenopsis 2.0. I'll update then and let you if she has eggs.

Update: Still no eggs but I moved her to the other side of the closet because there are less vibrations. She still has her wings and is clinging onto the cotton that keeps her sealed so she may have flown from the nest early. I don't know too much though. Also I'm starting to suspect she may be a camponotous queen because she is as large if not larger than my queen from my Camponotous Sayi colony. Anyway I'll update next week unless you have questions or tips. Anyway see you later and good luck with ant keeping.

Update: My fire ant queen is a carpenter ant queen. Oopsie on my part because I should have known that through size. She had the colors of a fire ant but I was wrong. Anyway I'll update Monday.
