Day 4
Another larvae pupated into a cocoon. That larva is the different species’s larvae. She is doing great and looks healthy.

day 7
cocoons get darker.
hoping the queen will open the cocoons soon.
will post pictures when the cocoons of the different species hatch in her care.
hope this works and gets her a head start on her journey to the thousand worker point.
one of her larvae that was her egg that she laid is now a mature larva looking like it will pupate in about 2-3 days.
we will have 6 workers soon.
here is all the brood the queen has:
*5 pupae
*1 mature larva
*3 mature eggs
hope this works, bugging3out

Day 8
One of the Cocoons was getting darker and darker. It was worrying me at this point. I came to my own conclusion. I would take the workers fate into my hands. I made a big incisionin the workers cocoon. Sure enough he was pale but ready I didn't take the entire cocoon of him because I wanted to let the queen know it was still hers. She immediately grabbed her and put it in her brood pile. She started cleaning it while the workers antennae moved. She slowly started dropping the silk off the worker. I will be expecting that worker to be fully cable of taking care of the brood.
Have a good weekend, Bugging3out

DAY 9 🥳 🥳 🥳
First worker!
She fished off the incisionin that I made.
The worker is still kinda in its cocoon position so don't think it's dead. It's antenna were moving. But anyways I will continue to update the forum until all the Cocoons hatch. Could I have some advise?
Should I keep making a incisionin in the different species's Cocoons?
Thanks, Bugging3out

If the cocoon is dark for 2 to 3 days and she does not open it then you can help her.
My current colonies:
-Miniature Military(formica neogagates)
-Black Hearts(crematogaster cerasi)
In search of new camponotus colony
[Have a look at antmaps.org]

Re: Journal on brood boosting a different species to the other
day 10!
the worker is now fully capable of doing nest work now and is not in a cocoon position. has been cleaning the queen and feeding her.
as you all know, Camponotus flordanus is smaller than Camponotus vicinus. so it looks so stupid because there is this huge queen with this tiny worker. it okay.
anyway, my colony of Camponotus flordanus died.
so I gave the camponotus vicinus queen all their brood and she was thrilled.
sad but happy.
well, I will keep updating this forum until all the cocoons hatch of camponotus flordanuis.
so far this experiment is successful.
they have 9 cocoons and 5 larvae and 10 young larvae.
and more.
also, I won't have to open the cocoons anymore because there is a worker now.
thanks, bugging3out

Oh man sounds that things are going great! Imagining the tiny worker and the huge queen is hilarious! I wish you good luck.
