UI.Spec_Col-1:Entry#1
Queen was caught in later summer of 19, in Rockville MD, scurrying along a dirt path.
First brood was seen one or two months in, and matured in a few weeks.
after her initial seven nanitics she stopped producing larvae, and all but two died.
she has had two more since I last checked (a month or so ago) and started producing a lot more (she has produced eleven eggs) after she moved into a clean test tube and was given some food (a baby cranefly) two weeks ago.
they are active and sensitive to vibrations. They scramble around the test tube whenever I start to open the drawer (regardless of how cautiously, and I will often see the queen moving a lot. they are avid burrowers and need a large amount of cotton, as to not escape or drown. I am still not 100% sure of the species, but I think it is Lasius Niger.

Re: UI.Spec_Col-1:Entry#1
the way they sound so sensitive to vibration suggests that it is formica (as their are no photos so just a guess)

Hey is there any chance you have some more detailed pictures? You can show pictures in your post by including the picture location as long as it is marked by 'tags'. [ img ] picture location [ /img ] (without the spaces)TherealIABAST wrote: ↑Fri Jun 05, 2020 2:13 pmI have them on Flickr

I don't have any better pictures, they aren't exactly happy about photoshoots, seeing as they are photophobic (I'm sorry)!Hawkeye wrote: ↑Fri Jun 05, 2020 3:30 pmHey is there any chance you have some more detailed pictures?
