All three of my queens have workers now. The one I disturbed the least has about 30 workers and several full size workers. The queen I forcibly moved before she had workers ended up eating all her first batch of eggs but later laid more, and she finally got her first two workers.

crematogaster does seem to be a very sensitive ant species.

Hey, sorry it’s been a while, but the queen that survived has workers! I’m moving them into a new home right now. I can see three confirmed workers + more eggs, but they are crematogastor, so there may be some very small ones I didn’t notice. I’ll try to get photos soon
