Today I got a prenolepis imparis colony via the GAN project and I took them home and since the tube was getting moldy I had to improvise a connection thingy to another test tube and right now I have them in a sleeve, they arent moving they are just chilling. They have a big queen and fat repletes and maybe 20 workers.

Today I am moving them out to my garage that is heated in the winter to around 40-50 degrees fahrenheit since I dont have a place that is not too warm or too cold besides that but they have not moved yet but they are more active when it is colder it seems does anyone know if how warm or cold their temperature is could affect their activity?

They were most active outdoors between 35° and 55° F. - Wheeler (1930)

Ok thanks for that, they still have not moved but the queen moved a bit. I know they are getting water from the cotton as I see them over there but I think they have not moved because they dont have brood that could be endangered by the mold therefore it is safer to not move for them. Thanks :D

I live in wisconsin and it gets to about freezing every night so since my garage is insulated I probs could put them there.

Another thing, any namesuggestions would be welcome since right now I have them named overfed fighters which I found funny but the only problem is they aren't really fighters. In fact they are pretty lazy, just chilling in their tube only moving when I check on them and to go get water.

Bruh I keep coming up with more to say. First do you or have you kept prenolepis imparis because some insight would be nice, as they as far as I know aren't the most popular ant to keep but I think they are cool. And last quick update, they havent moved yet but a couple of workers are hanging out farther from the cotton more now.

You can put them in a cold spot, for example at the window since windows usually are a weak spot for heat escaping and cold entering. ;)
Doing some proper research is the best way to start an antcolony.

Colonies:
1 - Messor Barbarus
Founding colonies:
2 - Lasius Niger Colony
