hello i created this forum to keep you updated on my ant colonies :D currently i have 2 queens of an identified species which im trying to identify (i also have a topic about that if you wannna help here is link https://forum.AntsCanada.com/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=20442&p=78269#p78269) i also have a camponotus pudorosus queen with 3 workers

one of the queens that are unidentified died sadly but the other one keeps laying eggs i hope she survives alone till the nanitics arrive and can help her :cry:

hello everybody i have bad news and good news

the bad news are that my 2 unidentified queens sadly died :(

but the good news are that i caught a wild fire ant colony! (solenopsis invicta) :D

my new red fire ant colony is big they have one queen and some worker and alate pupae i wasnt able to capture the whole colony because i had a small container. i caught them because i stepped on an ant nest and it occurred i stepped on a chamber with pupae i saw workers and a queen with no wings which i caught along with some workers and pupae.

i think they could be solenopsis geminata which is good because they are native then but if they are solenopsis invicta they are invasive i will try to identify her

hello everyone i need help my fire ants have mad a nest with dirt which is good but there are some white things that look like cotton growing over the dirt what shall i do, shall i move them out? are they harmful? please help :?

i think it is a saprophytic fungus so it may not be harmful

From what I've gathered, Solenopsis geminata has black mandibles while Solenopsis invicta has red mandibles. S geminata has 3 teeth on their mandibles while S invicta has 4. S geminata has a more square shaped head while S invicta has a more rounded head.
