Ant Keeping Definitely Requires Patience!!
Just had to announce that my Formica sp. 'colony' has its first nanitic!
I captured the Queen Aug. 1, 2015, she laid eggs April 6, and now, May 7, nanitics! It's taken 9 months from capture to this point!!! It has certainly required major patience.
My two Lasius sp. Queens laid eggs last fall but none ever eclosed. They have laid more, so I am hoping nanitics will emerge, eventually.
