Formica Pallidefulva
Well I went outside and saw a large ant scurrying past me. I wasn’t even looking for ants but oh well.
My camera decided not to focus today.

Nice Spot! Always happens that way for me.... not looking so you have no tubes or container bam there she is just staring backat you. Now you're looking for anything that will be quick and efficient to catch her, cursing under youre breath as what you need is just out of reach so you debate taking you're eyes off the queen for a second and risk losing her or frantically grabbing a cup.... ahhh and some people think there's no excitement keeping ants...
Ants are life's most successful invaders. Understand and respect that power.

That’s usually true for me, but I had test tubes on me because I was looking jumping spiders (common pests in my area).MorbidBugg wrote: ↑Thu Jul 12, 2018 9:54 pmNice Spot! This is beyond accurate. I actually just catch them in my hands and put them in my pocket now.MorbidBugg wrote: ↑Thu Jul 12, 2018 9:54 pmNice Spot! But just the aniexty I used to face knowing the fact that I found a queen and had no tubes... it's painful.

In most captive colonies, most of the larvae don't have anchors (like dirt or sand) to themselves and spin a silk cocoon. I could always add substrate, but I like it better this way.
