My son and I were fortunate enough to capture two T. immigrans queens this morning. We are new to ant keeping, but my reading tells me they are polygynous. The advice I read seems to conflict regarding how to (and whether to) put them together. I would really appreciate some direction here from you experts out there.
Keep them permanently separate?
Same test tube?
Different test tubes and merge when introduced into the formicarium?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Tetramorium immigrans Polygyny
Tetramorium ants are not polygynus. They can raise eggs together but once the workers arrive the Queen will fight to the death. Better to keep them separate.
An ants' strength can be rivaled by few animals compared to relative body size.

That's what I was afraid of. Thanks.
