Hi-
Second question: I've had fun watching a Tapinoma super colony going through their nuptial routine in my yard, and I found a wingless queen. I'm wondering if I should even bother keeping her because everything I read about them on here makes it sound like they are super picky and don't thrive in captivity. The queen I found is in a test tube set up with a pile of eggs already. I don't want to set myself up for frustration since I am new to all this.
Thank you for your input.

Re: Tapinoma Sessile queen - should I even bother?
There's lots of misinformation that floats around on this species, like they only live 1-3 years, but I've kept a colony for 5 years and don't know what to think of it. One tip, though: small ants like small insects.
If you enjoy my expertise and identifications, please do not put wild populations at risk of disease by releasing pet colonies. We are responsible to give our pets the best care we can manage for the rest of their lives.
