That is awesome to hear! I know carpenter ants lay very slowly, so maybe both will take time before they decide to lay their eggs. I may try moving the sugar paste closer to her and see what she does, but for now she is currently upside down in her test tube like a monkey. Speaking of, is it normal to give names to queens since they live a long time? I currently have mine named Queen Victoria, because famous queen and this girl was a victory for me lol.

Anyways, I will give it a go as mine too has ripped at the cotton. So maybe it's a food thing.

yes. Or perhaps if you have any protein mix or someone with fresh insects you could offer her some of that so she got enough proteins for her children. ;D

I own three leopard geckos, insects are of no issue to obtain lol. But yes I have sugar-paste in there with her right now, even though carpenters don't normally eat but hey she needs her food and fat, and I think she will be ready after a couple weeks. Now the hard part is gonna be leaving her alone... Oh boy...

Well you should offer her at least some proteins tomorrow or in 48hrs.

I will, today I am actually going to head to a local state park to see if I can find anything looking to be useful. The inner biologist in me is calling lol.

But yes, I'll get her a cricket soon enough, I just hope it helps her out.

What I mean is, I am going to find a male for my queen if I can, its so late in the season, but I have to give it a try at least once. And if nothing happens after that, then at least I can say I tried everything.

I can see you already trying to find a male with a bug catching net. :P
if you can't find any you can still keep her as a normal pet ant. :D

I mean yes, but I am still curious as to how I will be able to do that since I thought she would eventually needs workers to keep her going... Ah well, I love Victoria the way she is, and she is super well behaved!

I should give my queen also a name. :D
But yeah it may also just be that she lays eggs and eats them immediatly. :/
I also don't know why but I have to think about this right now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fUspLVStPbk
Haha like ant queens basicly are like the woman in the video after they got some workers. XD
