they look semi-claustral, and i think keep her awake until she has a worker, ether wise all her work she has done will be lost.

I disagree. I would recommend following what this ant would be doing in the wild, which is hibernating. Place her in a cool place (unheated garage, crawlspace, attic, shed) And let her do what she is supposed to do. you can provide her with food in case she decides she wants some.

Does A Box Closed In A Cold Closet Work(Temp-About 51°F)

Yeah that could work if that is your best option. A cooler is preferred, but that should be alright :)

Do not, I repeat do NOT hibernate P. Pennsylvanica the queen will lay during the summer and winter. Also she is semi-claustral and needs fed.

Do you have a source for this? Are you just saying that you can keep the queen from hibernation and she will lay eggs in an unnatural time of year, or are you saying that this species in Texas does not hibernate? It makes sense to me to always have them at a temperature close to what they would be living in as a local wild ant colony.

Are you sure she is not Hypoponera sp., which is more common in the southern US? You would have to look for a small tooth under the petiole to tell them apart.

Hibernation isn't something you can see; it is just the ants at a cold temperature and lower metabolism.
