Larvae on ceiling. Normal???
Hello i checked up on my Ofontomachus queen today again. I uncovered her set up and she first rushed to her eggs. As i examined the test tube i saw what i think are 3 larvae and what i think is an egg. She rushed after securing her eggs to the cotton to grab 2 larvae that were on the walls and 1 on the ceiling. I am really worried about the rest, she seems to look on the walls and not quite find them... she mainly cares about the eggs. She doesnt even keep the larvae in piles, she places them on random spots never being too far but not close enough to touch. Is it ok that she places her brood on random spots and does not keep them together in a pile? Will the larvae on the ceiling be ok or will they die? Why does she place them that way?

Really??? Is it normal that she has her laevae hanging everywhere and with a distance between each one?

If the brood are spread out it could be signs of an unfit queen, but I'm still kinda new to this hobby so don't take my word.

I mean like she could be mentally or even physically injured. She might not be able to care for her own brood.

Physically she is ok but im not sure about the other... she seems to care about her brood when her test tube is uncovered.Theantguy13 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 05, 2017 6:21 pmI mean like she could be mentally or even physically injured. She might not be able to care for her own brood.

Best case scenario: you may have accidentally turned the test tube 180 degrees when you picked her up which made the queen quickly run down to the bottom to level herself. This made it apear that she laid brood on the ceiling, and also might scatter the brood in the process (I accidentally do this a lot). Worst case scenario: If her eggs are truly as spread out as you say they are she may be infertile.

I have not touched the test tube. In fact i thought if i should turn it 180 degrees for her to get the brood... also im totally sure i didnt turn it because she has a small path of dirt on the floor of the test tubeAquaexploder wrote: ↑Mon Jun 05, 2017 6:45 pmBest case scenario: you may have accidentally turned the test tube 180 degrees when you picked her up which made the queen quickly run down to the bottom to level herself.
