This morning I was doing my daily inspection and watering ritual when I noticed that one of the majors in my nest was 'limping' on the lower floor. It didn't seem capable of climbing to the second floor and the other ants were cleaning it excessively. Closer inspection revealed that one of it's legs was twisted into an unnatural shape and flailing around.
This is almost definitely a new development, as I check the nest frequently. I've not fed the ants live food recently and certainty not anything capable of doing significant damage to a major.
My ants are well fed and kept in a dry-moderate humidity setup.
Has anyone experienced this before?
Are my ants turning on each other?
Is there some kind of disease that could create this kind of deformity?
Could this possibly be a birth defect?
Should I try and get a decent image or video?
Thanks for listening,
Wounded ant?

Re: Wounded ant?
How? As in it tried to lift something too heavy or lifted it improperly?
[Insert safe handling joke here.]

Took this video last night. Couldn't find the ant this morning though.
Is there anything I can do for injured ants?
Thanks,
