Pavement Ant Observations

Just connected my Pavement Ant colony's test tube to an ant tower small and witnessed something I didn't know was something that could happen occurred. This colony has about 20 workers and a few dozen brood. After connecting the test tube, I witnessed the queen leave the tube before a new home was dug out and she was moving debris and dirt along with the workers. Is this a bad thing? Is this normal?

Don't worry about it, they know what they are doing.
Why don’t more people like ants?
Is anyone from Wyoming who wants to sell ants?

The workers will bring her back if they need to. But if I were you, I wouldn't put them in an ant tower. I had my Tetramorium immigrans colony in one, and they're able to fit through the holes.
Why keep ants that aren't found in your yard?
There are so many fascinating ants right where you live!
I disagree with the keeping/buying of ants that aren't in your area.
