So, from what I have gathered, to hibernate ants during winter you just stock them up on water and put them someplace with temperatures in the 40-50 degrees Fahrenheit? Just wanted to make sure that this was correct. Any other specific procedures for the hibernation of ants are welcome.
Thanks!

Re: Hibernation
Yep. Hibernation length depends on area. Also make sure they are ready for hibernation and off a heat pad or cable for two weeks before hibernation.AntsIdaho wrote: ↑Sun Jun 11, 2023 12:05 pmSo, from what I have gathered, to hibernate ants during winter you just stock them up on water and put them someplace with temperatures in the 40-50 degrees Fahrenheit? Re: Hibernation
You should probably slowly cool them down. Like maybe 5 degrees F. a day.AntsIdaho wrote: ↑Sun Jun 11, 2023 12:05 pmSo, from what I have gathered, to hibernate ants during winter you just stock them up on water and put them someplace with temperatures in the 40-50 degrees Fahrenheit? Why keep ants that aren't found in your yard?
There are so many fascinating ants right where you live!
I disagree with the keeping/buying of ants that aren't in your area.

Re: Hibernation
So could I just put them in my garage when the temperature outside starts to drop? That way the temperature will drop at a natural rate.
