I have a semi claustral ant and I was wondering what I should do since I am going away from it for 2 weeks I have already put a bit of honey inside the tub but I won’t be able to feed it any protein for 2 weeks

What should I do?

monomorium sp
iridomyrmex bicknelli
Nylanderia sp
Myrmecia simillima

Should be an issue if she got some honey. Other food would start to mold so this should be the best option. Make sure that the testtube is clean.

Could you tell us what ant species she is?
Doing some proper research is the best way to start an antcolony.

Currently not keeping any ants anymore.

Nvm I decided a solution: I put a pre killed mealworm inside and a live darkling beetle inside too

(Btw i know putting alive one in was kinda cruel but I had to do it)

So then the queen could eat the pre killed one and when it wanted to could hunt the beetle.

it was a risk tho cos the mould could have grown but luckily there was no mold

(Also my queen is a jackjumper bull ant)

i find that jackjumper queens are sometimes very picky and only eat alive cockroaches, alive crickets, etc. also be careful as they jump quite high and are very fast.
im still looking for a queen this year :(
keeping:
all my queens died :(
got a sugar ant colony started :)
