My Odontoponera denticulata queen dying
I have an Odontoponera denriculata queen, she have 2 larvae and some eggs, 2 weeks ago i make a container and place her test tube. I think she was happy. If i give her some meal worm, she allways come to me.
After work i chek her, and give some meal worm, she run and come to me like before, but when i check her at 21.00, she not able to move, she was verry weak. What happen with my queen?

Queens can sleep for up to 9 hours a day. I probably don’t think your queen is dying.

How is the humidity inside? She could be drying out.

I face the same thing sometimes too. You’re right, she could be drying out, and certain species also need certain humidity levels too.

Your queen could be drying out (as SYUTEO said). Sorry for my previous response, I didn’t look closely into it.lacktist wrote: ↑Tue Nov 29, 2022 8:27 amI have an Odontoponera denriculata queen, she have 2 larvae and some eggs, 2 weeks ago i make a container and place her test tube. Maybe read this article, it explains the humidity levels that these species require. Maybe check the temperature too, as they prefer 25-29 degrees celsius test tubes. https://emeraldants.blogspot.com/2021/08/how-to-care-for-odontoponera-denticulata.html

Re: My Odontoponera denticulata queen dying
If she is still not able to move, she is probably dying from a parasite, lack of heat, too much heat, mites, or even dehyrdration(I believe SYUTEO said this as I skimmed over the topic.lacktist wrote: ↑Tue Nov 29, 2022 8:27 amI have an Odontoponera denriculata queen, she have 2 larvae and some eggs, 2 weeks ago i make a container and place her test tube. You also shouldn't put her near or in direct sunlight.
