Hibernating tetramorium

I have a few questions about my tetramorium immigrans colony. First of all, I don't think I've been taking proper care of them. They've just been living off scraps of meat and honey because I don't have any feeder insects. Second, I've read that they don't need to enter hibernation. Is this true? Lastly, would it be best to remove their current AntsCanada test tube portal and substitute it with a tubs and tubes setup?

Yeah Teramorium dosen't need to hibernate but an optional three month is best, if your gonna hibernate them don't move them to a tubs&tubes yet.

I think what have been doing is ok. I don't think it matters much at all whether or not you hibernate them (I don't hibernate mine). As far as moving them, how large is the colony if they have 30+ workers that would be ok, as long as you are not going to hibernate them.

Thanks for the advice and sorry for the late reply. I also have a young formica colony w/ exactly 5 workers and no brood and I'm pretty sure I should hibernate them. How do I do this? I have no experience in hibernating ants because I recently moved here from Southeast Asia and would appreciate any help.

Yes, you need to hibernate them. Do this by putting them in a refrigerator at 40 deg. F. For 4 months.
