Crematogaster substrate
I have a newly established colony of Crematogaster (Ashmeadi I THINK) ants. If I wanted to eventually house them in a more natural environment-like formicarium (for instance housing Solenopsis Invicta in sand), which substrate could I use? Would sand work? I've never seen Crematogaster in the wild with a colony in the ground is why I ask.

It’s kind of rare for them to live in dirt. This guy did it:^^^
