Hmm that's weird... ...maybe she has a parasite or something?Jampott wrote: ↑Fri Aug 19, 2022 4:58 pmNope I haven't seen her lay goopantperson24 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 19, 2022 3:10 pmWait! I have seen this before! When this happened to me the queen bit the egg to eat it, and it broke but she never ate it and it turned into a mush, and started to mold. Could this be it, or have you seen her lay the goo? Also I have had Lasius before, and these eggs a not natural.

Why keep ants that aren't found in your yard?
There are so many fascinating ants right where you live!
I disagree with the keeping/buying of ants that aren't in your area.

It is a lasius Niger so maybe she is eating her eggs. But why would she do that. Is she hungry

She should not need food, unless she already has her first workers.

Re: Queen problems
That what I thought, a parasite that resides in the eggs. But I will do some looking on the internet, and see if I can prove this correct.SolenopsisKeeper wrote: ↑Fri Aug 19, 2022 4:52 pmThis is a wild guess: Your queen has some sort of parasites that infest the eggs and that’s how they reproduce.

Would look into antwiki page listed parasites and reproduction methods. Could be quite helpful.antperson24 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 20, 2022 5:40 pmFound something for you Jampott! This is a wild guess: Your queen has some sort of parasites that infest the eggs and that’s how they reproduce.
Other flies take advantage of the nuptial flights and lay their eggs in newly mated queens. This stops her from laying her own eggs and will make her, without her knowing it, take care of the flies larvae and pupae. The queen will later die, letting the fly grow into adulthood without her meddling
But she is not laying any eggs at all and this piece suggests that she lays the flys eggs

Re: Queen problems
Maybe she just can't lay eggs because of the parasite, and it has eaten enough of her that she will die?
