Tetraponera rufonigra care assistance required.
Ok so I will be making a poll. I have tow types of test tubes. The standard glass test tube, everyone who keeps ants knows the pros and cons of this. And I recently received these so called bamboo test tubes. These test tubes have multiple champers, and each chamber has a bit of substrate witch is nice, and the flooring has a sandy texture so the ants may feel more at home with this one, I'll post the like to the picture in a sperate post (I haven't taken the picture yet). I'm a bit reluctant to use this one though, because I haven't used these before and I'm not sure if the material next to the water source will actually absorb the water and allow the ant to hydrate.
For now I will put her in a standard test tube so she can be fed, I don't want to risk her dying.

This is what it looks like. I'll be doing a lot of my own reading about these ants, but advice on keeping them will always be appreciated.

Use bamboo tube, Tetraponera tend to do better in them. Also don't add too much water, Tetraponera require a dryer setup.

Will she be able to drink from the water in the bamboo tube or should I put a water station in her out world?

Alright, so I did see her drink some of the honey while she was foraging witch is comforting to me. She might be stuck in the out world, because she has already discovered the honey, the cut up mealworm and the living mealworm, yet she still did not enter the test tube. Could she be looking for something else? Is she not happy with the mealworms I provided her?
I put a tooth pick that goes from the entrance of the test tube to the ground in the out world, trying to simulate that of her environment. When I upgrade her out world, I will have various twigs going to different places, simulating a tree and giving her more surface area to explore.

Alright I'll keep that in mind, I also have a super large bamboo test tube. 3 cm in diameter.SolenopsisKeeper wrote: ↑Wed Aug 10, 2022 6:49 amAny large ants tend to due better with Bamboo test tubes in general.

Re: Tetraponera rufonigra care assistance required.
What would be normal behavior for a Tetraponera rufonigra dealate in a out world? Because mine rarely walks on the ground and mostly on the sides or the roof if she could. I have applied a DIY flueon barrier on the roof so I can have breathing holes for her, but now she keeps running around on the top corner just next to the flueon barrier, and she does this continually around and around the out world. I do not know if this is normal behavior or if something is bothering her.
I also don't know when to expect her to start the founding process, I am trying my best to get her to get comfortable to start founding, but I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or what.
