Wait! I just saw an AntsCanada video where he said to use bottled water for ants. I just used normal, chlorinated drinking water from my tap. Is this an issue, they have been seemingly fine!

No, its not. All my ants use tap water, and they are doing fine.Ostrichking371 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 10, 2022 10:20 amWait! I just saw an AntsCanada video where he said to use bottled water for ants. I’ll be leaving for a vacation on this Sunday. Normally, I’d check on my queen every six days (I’d be checking on her tomorrow, Thursday). Should I wait check on her until Sunday maybe morning, should I check on her on both days, or should I just check on her tomorrow? Thanks!

Either would work. As I have stated previously, Camponotus are not affected by light. Therefore, as long as you open the drawer slowly and softly, she should feel little to no stress(Except in sudden light change)Ostrichking371 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 13, 2022 7:01 pmI’ll be leaving for a vacation on this Sunday. The pupa still hasn’t emerged!! Is there a problem, maybe it’s dead! The larva is the same size as the pupa, maybe about to pupate?! The pile of eggs still is there, they also haven’t hatched!!

My Camponotus queen hides her larvae under the cocoons . Have the eggs gotten darker? Some species will have eggs get darker before hatching, but many Camponotus will not. If the pupae is dead what will happen is she typically slices it open and eats it or shoves it on the water Cotton ball, making it “flat”. Is it with her trash?Ostrichking371 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 14, 2022 6:42 pmThe pupa still hasn’t emerged!! Is there a problem, maybe it’s dead! No! She keeps it with the larva. It’s isn’t flat either. The meconium (I had to look up what it was) seems to have disappeared, but I do see a black dot on the side, almost like the eye darkening like I’ve seen on videos. On the other hand, the black dot on the end could just be the meconium from a different angle. The larva is the size of the pupa and had its head curved down like it’s ready to pupate! The eggs don’t appear darker from what I’ve seen though, but she keeps it all in a neat pile, which she stands on, definitely not her trash!
