New queen, have questions.

I just caught a queen in my backyard, and I think she is mated, but I have no test tubes to put her in, so I had to put her in a plastic tube thing (I don't know what it's called). I put the water in behind some cotton and set her inside, but the space for her is very big, is that a problem? Should the space be small? Any help will be much appreciated.

What species of ant? How big is the queen? If one Cotten ball is as wide as her container, should be fine.(Please feel free to post pictures via imagur and link them)

This is a pic of the queen in her setup, and if it needs to be smaller, I can many push the cotton in farther.

Sorry, that first one, I thought I put a picture in with it. Do you know how to put up a picture? It also said that the board attachment quota had been reached. Do you know what that means? Anyways thanks for the help.

Unfortunately, the owner/dev team hasn’t fixed it. Post it on imagur, photo bucket, or Flickr and you can link it here. If you don’t like those options, you can do it via google photos, and use sharing options to also link it here.

The space between the two cotton balls is about 5 inches. I can push the plug cotton ball in farther if that will make any difference. Thanks for the help.

I'm not doing heat because I don't have a heat cable, but if you have any pro tips for a new ant keeper, that would be great, thanks for the help.

Don’t heat queens directly if your just starting. Killed all my first queens like that.
