Strange Polyrhachis ant strategy?
I own a test tube with three polyrhachis versicolour queens (It was 4 but one died) and they only have an egg and a larva. Yesterday, it was only the larva. Will it continue like this with being one more brood every day or is it just a weird strategy? I have given them honey though
keeping:
all my queens died
got a sugar ant colony started

It may be stress, or even more commonly the larvae ate it’s sibling. Try to check on every 4 days max.AntsAntsAnts wrote: ↑Sat Jan 01, 2022 8:04 pmI own a test tube with three polyrhachis versicolour queens (It was 4 but one died) and they only have an egg and a larva. The queen might be eating the larvae. Try feeding them small drop of honey or an insect
Ants I have-
camponotus compressus colony- the shadow warriors.
Pls just let me have a tetramorium colony

Maybe one is infertile and it is surviving off the other queens eggs. You could try splitting them upAntsAntsAnts wrote: ↑Sat Jan 01, 2022 8:04 pmI own a test tube with three polyrhachis versicolour queens (It was 4 but one died) and they only have an egg and a larva. Maybe… what signs of fertility do they show (cleaning gaster, gathering up eggs)
