Hi guys,
bumping this thread with an update.
I've left my two testtubes in my bedside drawer for the last 3 weeks. Since then i have been infrequently checking on them (rarely picking them up, sometimes just opening the draw a crack slowly and seeing they're still moving before closing it again).
I noticed the wool near the water looked as if it was drying up, i couldn't touch it to tell, but once a week i push it down further into the water to saturate it to make sure it's not dried out. could i have overpacked the cotton wool here?
Secondly, one of my queens has started laying!! she had 2 eggs on sunday and now she has 4 - whilst this is GREAT news because i was worried nothing would happen from them after the above, i thought she would be hibernating... will the eggs grow and pupate over winter or will they just stay as they are until march?? i'm not putting them in the fridge (knowing me i'll kill them) so the temperature might not be hibernation temperature but i kind of want them to start hatching brood now and not march...
any thoughts?
