I know. But sadly I don't have a video of this at the ready. It shouldn't be too difficult to shake them out of the setup. I don't think they have too much grip inside of your plastic nest so they should be easy to move. You could of course also attache a testtube to their current setup so they can move into the testtube themself.

Its possible but you should not worry about it.

-Miniature Military(formica neogagates)
-Black Hearts(crematogaster cerasi)
In search of new camponotus colony
[Have a look at antmaps.org]

It's only the end if you give up or if they are all dead.

Depending on the species, they are hibernating. Or the queen is taking a break.

Re: My 20 Worker Colony Went Down
usually, how long is the break? since i live in singapore, theres no hibernation. the queen didnt see to lay any eggs for 3 months to 6 months.

Re: My 20 Worker Colony Went Down
Well it really depends on the species. If they hibernate. Then they may hibernate until March. If they don't hibernate, they might just take a break for a few weeks or months. But it really comes down to what species of ants you have.

Re: My 20 Worker Colony Went Down
it has been quite a while now, im afraid they are carpenter ants.
their break would of outlasted until now, no eggs are formed. i heard they lay in batches.
only 5 workers are left and i have no baby powder and cant acces it because of the marts closing (covid)
should i just try to keep them healty until their next batch of eggs?
