does anyone have any tips for keeping crickets?
I have tried twice, they died both times. I don't know what I did wrong.
What did you feed them
Orange slices.
Why keep ants that aren't found in your yard?
There are so many fascinating ants right where you live!
I disagree with the keeping/buying of ants that aren't in your area.

Try apples or other non acidic fruits instead. Idk if that affects them at all tho. How did you keep them
When you accidentally reply to yourself…

Just in a plastic tub with vermiculite.

I dont think any substrate is necessary, only for breeding you need a type of substrate so the can lay eggs.
Also i had kinda young crickets, one grew up now and has wings...(they are in my room sadly)

My campo nicobarensis also went from 15W to 4W, they have 2 larvae now and 1 egg. I gave them honey recently. Should i feed them a cricket? What is best to recover a colony? Also, it has been like this for a few months now i am worried the workers might die.

What did you feed them besides honey? How often are you feeding them?

I fed them 2 termite alates, but like no egg production, not until now. For how often i am feeding them, not so often

I was going to breed them, but I had soil for the eggs.

Feed them more often, once every 2 days or everyday will get your colony growing in size rapidly. Don't just give them the same kind of food all the time, feed them a wider variety of food. For carbohydrates you can also feed them sugar water (or even solid sugar crystals), fruit, and I heard even corn syrup can work. For protein you can give them mealworms, crickets, feeder roaches or fruit flies, if you can't find a store that sells those, you can feed them raw or cooked meat too, just remember to remove any leftover or it will rot and the toxic gases will kill your colony. Another option is to catch wild insects to feed them but do remember you risk the colony getting killed by pesticides or infected by parasites.
