It's a group of ant keepers that have all kept or keep colonies of Camponotus.
Camponotus Modoc: 3 workers
Camponotus Hyatti: 3 workers

Hi everyone, I have a one year old camponotus novaeboracensis colony. They have been doing great and continue to grow in numbers. Anyways, In AntsCanada’s video on carpenter ant care, he said majors should come at about year three, so 2024. What my question really is, is that I have some majors in my colony. They could be repletes though, but I don’t think they are because everyone in the colony has a full gaster. And yes, I’m sure they aren’t minors because these special workers have bigger head, are bigger in general, and lastly they seem to only tear up tough stuff like a major in the wild. Anyway, Dow a anyone know why these majors would be coming up so early?

Really glad this got restarted because I really loved the old Camponotus Crew, it was on there that I posted about several Campnontus Novaeboracensis queens I had that all died and only 1 of them ever got a worker I was so sad the day that queen died because she had kept eating all her brood except for 1 ant and eventually it hatched but soon after the queen died, I cried for so long after that... But that was before I had test tubes and I was using syringes to raise ants in lol  now I have a ton of test tubes and I am raising 2 Camponotus Penn.(pennsylvanicus) and 1 Campnontus Novaeboracensis queen and the 2 Penn. queens both have a cluster if eggs!

Have you been powerfeeding them or giving them a lot of food? Also do you heat their nest? Those could both possibly be factors.

I do give them a lot of protein, and yes their nest is heated. I do know those could be reasons why, but it just seems so early.

One of my previous colonies got their majors wihen they only had 15 workers, at about month 3-5. I also heard someone got majors as nanitics.

My novaeboracensis colony had majors after 8-9 months. I think it really helps feeding them a lot of protein, because the major came after I fed them a lot of protein!
Why keep ants that aren't found in your yard?
There are so many fascinating ants right where you live!
I disagree with the keeping/buying of ants that aren't in your area.
