You can open the lid a little bit to allow more air to flow in and close it when you're not watching them.

Should be alright, just make sure they don't escape (that happened to my Black Crazy ants when the lid wasn't closed properly).

I would let the whole setup air out for a good while to make sure that the fumes have vanished. Maybe even wash out the outworld.

not really sure it's made for aquarium...but in the instruction it is showing that the glue is infact SAFE for aquarium
