When to connect ants into AC test tube portal?
ok so I have a carpender ant colony, they are healthy and happy, and still in a test tube settup. They currently have 6 workers. And I just thought of something as I was feeding them. Its already a lttle annoying to feed them, cause sometimes they are on the cotton and crawl out. So how am I supposd to feed them when they have, say, 15 workers? When should I connect them to a AC ant portal? Cause if they are completely crammed into the test tube (as seen in some of mikeys videos) hopw do you feed them? Should you connect them to a portal the minute its too hard to feed them? I feel like 20 would already be toop much, and ive heard that you should keep them in the test tube for as long as possible before moving them. Thank you for your help!

When it's getting to hard to feed them, then attach an AC test tube portal. Some people attach one even though the colony only has one worker!

ok I have ONE more question (sorry im new to ant kepping ) should I attach a sugar water test tube right when I move them in, or wait a bit? thmnks so much!

Yes, you can attach one right now but it can take a VERY long time before it runs out and needs to be replaced which in some cases, lead to mold. But the good thing is that you don't need to continuously feed them sugar water until it runs out.RaylaIsBest wrote: ↑Wed Jul 28, 2021 8:17 pmok I have ONE more question (sorry im new to ant kepping ) should I attach a sugar water test tube right when I move them in, or wait a bit? thmnks so much!
