I've only kept Iridomyrmex once and it was I. anceps (it's the only Iridomyrmex species in Malaysia) and during founding, she doesn't seem to get stressed to much while I check her.

She successfully founded a colony but they all died a couple months ago while moving them to a new test tube. :(

Not 100% sure but I think some of the workers escaped and ate some ant poison (my dad placed some to kill wild pharaoh ants and ghost ants) and returned home to feed the rest of the colony. The next time I managed to catch one I will make sure none of them will escape, not even one worker.

Try with twice a week instead of day.
Doing some proper research is the best way to start an antcolony.
