Freeze your feeder bugs?

Just wanted to ask if freezing feeder bugs was a good idea. I was mostly just killing my bug by putting them in the freezer (and to keep them fresh longer). Is that ok? Or do i NEED to kill them by hand then give them to my ants? Do i really need to keep my feeder insects alive?

As far as my knowledge takes me, freezing is a great option. However, are you hibernating them of straight up freezing them. Freezing kills most insects quickly, and painlessly, and keeps them fresh. Furthermore, it more or less disables their ability to move after death. If you just hibernate them, you'll have to crush them before feeding, unless of course you're ok with feeding your ants live food. So all in all, freezing your food is good, if not time consuming.

I freeze all my feeder insects.
My current colonies:
-Miniature Military(formica neogagates)
-Black Hearts(crematogaster cerasi)
In search of new camponotus colony
[Have a look at antmaps.org]

Mealworms can survive inside of the fridge for a long time. However some die from time to time so I remove those whenever I spot some.
I tried having bee larvae but they don't last as long and somehow my superworms also all died before I could feed any of them.
Doing some proper research is the best way to start an antcolony.

Currently not keeping any ants anymore.
